What are clippings?

Clippings are shortcuts that allow you to "remember" an item an easily access it later. For instance, instead of visiting the "What's New" page over and over, you can simply add all unread items to your clippings. Since clippings are displayed on each page, you can then go from item to item directly. Since clippings persist even if you leave the site, then you can also use clippings to remember a particular item for later.

The clippings code used in this site is based off the code found at the International Herald Tribune site.  Like the original, it is released under the GPL.  To the best I can tell, the idea originated at the smoking gun website.

What are the requirements?

You must have cookies enabled as the information about your clippings is stored in cookies. You also must have JavaScript enabled.

You must have a DOM compliant browser. Clippings have been tested on IE 5.0, 5.5, 6.0 on Windows, IE 5.0 on Mac, and various versions of Netscape 6.0 and Mozilla. At this time, it is not know if they work on Opera browsers.
